Collins, the second child of late Roseline Sougie, the mother of five allegedly slain by her husband recently in Lagos says he often forgets his mum is gone even after almost one week of her death.

Collins, who was speaking at his late mother’s wake keep on Thursday, said,
“Seven days without my mum has been like seven days without food or water. Unconsciously, I call mummy but realising later that mummy has died leaves me almost completely lifeless. Mummy, all of us will miss you because you were the only one taking care of us and love us so much. Sleep on at the bosom of the Lord.”
This is contained in a statement made available to Saturday PUNCH on Friday by the President of the Women Arise for Change Initiative, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, who was at the event.

The deceased was allegedly killed recently by her husband of 26 years, Jafaru, 49, who was caught attempting to commit suicide at the time Sougie’s lifeless body was discovered.

Sougie’s sister, Mrs. Philomena Shaibu, had told PUNCH Metro that Jafaru, had sometime in 2015, used a pillow to stifle the mother of five while she was asleep when he was angry.

Jafaru, who survived the alleged suicide attempt, is in the custody of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

Okei-Odumakin, at the event, demanded justice for the slain mother.

She also urged the people in the gathering to reject domestic violence and gave out numbers that victims could call for help.

Okei-Odumakin also noted that her organisation and other well-wishers must ensure that the children left behind by the deceased received adequate care and education.

During her visit, Okei-Odumakin was shown round the residence of the Sougie’s at the Oshodi area of Lagos to see her bloodstained bed.
